HOW TO INTERPRET YOUR RESULTS
If your carbohydrate target lands above 75 grams per hour and you haven't specifically trained at that intake rate, the calculator will flag it. That flag matters. A high carb target only helps you if your gut can absorb it — otherwise you're trading a bonk for cramping and bloating. If you're a salty sweater or racing in heat, your sodium and fluid numbers will run higher than a generic plan — don't round them down to what feels comfortable in training. Race-day sweat losses under heat and race intensity are usually higher than what you experience on an easy weekday session.

How do I know if bonking is a fueling issue and not a fitness issue?
If your fitness feels fine early and mid-race but you experience a sudden drop in energy, focus, or coordination in the final third of the race, that's the classic signature of glycogen depletion or dehydration, not a fitness limiter. Fitness problems tend to show up as a gradual decline from the start. Fueling problems show up as a cliff.
How many carbohydrates per hour do most triathletes actually need?
It depends on your bodyweight, race distance, and whether you're using a dual-transporter (glucose plus fructose) product. The calculator targets a range up to roughly 90 to 100 grams per hour for longer races using dual-transporter carbs, versus a lower ceiling around 60 grams per hour on a single-source product.
